Curriculum
The curriculum at Tooradin Primary School is comprehensive and is based upon the Victorian Curriculum.
The Victorian Curriculum provides a single coherent and comprehensive set of prescribed content and common achievement standards, which our school uses to plan student learning programs, assess student progress and report to parents. In May each year, students in Year 3 and 5 complete the National Assessment program—Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) test. Twice per year, June and December, student results are reported to parents through Compass.
LITERACY AND NUMERACY
There is an emphasis upon Literacy and Numeracy. The curriculum is structured on a two hour Literacy Block (one hour each of reading and writing activities), a one hour Mathematics block, Integrated Studies and a range of specialist programs. Held in Term 4 for 2½ hours is a 4 year old program - Learning Links to prepare students for their introduction to preps. We also offer Story Time in Term 3 to our future prep students to assist them developing important literacy skills and orientating with the school environment. All programs throughout the school cater for student individual differences and cater for their varied learning styles.
